I don't ever wear a Yankees cap.
But I respect it and acknowledge that is the most iconic logo in all of Professional sports.
Where did it come from?
According to the internet: The logo has a connection to Tiffany's. The famous interlocking "NY" logo predates the Yankees. It first was designed by Tiffany and Co. as part of a Medal of Valor for John McDowell, an NYPD officer who was shot in the line of duty in 1877.
The famous interlocking N and Y first appeared in 1913 when the team became the "Yankees."
In 1903, the Baltimore franchise moved to NY and was known as the Highlanders because the field that they played on sat atop the city.
Even though I am not a fan of the Yankees, I have a lot of respect for them.
Since 1913, there has never been a home or away cap.
No alternates, no color changes...pure and simple tradition.
